We're scaring the men

Before I begin, let me tell you that I have had to comb through some truly despicable shit on ConservativeInternet™ to get background on this treatise beyond my radical feminist opinion that, according to Ben Shapiro, ruins everything.* And if you are a man that is not afraid, good for fucking you. Unless you are actively educating your brethren at every single opportunity on why women are also humans you are useless to me and I don't want to hear from you.

The very public display put on during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings has men around the nation clutching their pearls, fearful that they will be next in the onslaught of OBVIOUSLY false accusations that women use to hex men and ruin their lives. The all-male GOP contingent that would speak to Brett Kavanaugh directly but needed a lady translator with Christine Ford repeated again and again how Ford's accusation was "ruining his life." Kavanaugh himself bemoaned that his life was "ruined." But like, how? Let's look at a chart.

Hmm weird that becoming a Supreme Court Justice isn't on the list of life-ruiners.

I find this interesting for a lot of reasons, but first, it appears that men are terrified in noticing that women have power kind of? They seem to notice that these accusations are powerful in SOME way, though, not really in any kind of way that matters most of the time. That for the first time women can actually affect their lives in a way similar that men have been affecting women's lives, well, forever. Because the national climate has, at least at a discourse level, begun to believe women. This scares the men.

Here is a real quote from a guy that was very earnestly trying to convince me that NO MAN IS SAFE:

"When I was in college a bunch of us were watching a movie in the community room and I fell asleep and this girl fell asleep snuggling me and she could accuse me of something and I would have no way to prove it didn't happen."

Sure, and there is no way to prove I DIDN'T travel though time and kidnap the Lindberg baby and both scenarios are just as plausible.

Woah if true

I am not exactly sure where the notion that there is an army of very coordinated Radical Feminist Lesbians that are out to destroy YOUR MEN with false rape allegations. The message here is FEAR AND DISBELIEVE ALL WOMEN BECAUSE THE LIBS ARE PAYING THEM TO RUIN MEN WHO ARE THE VICTIMS HERE THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO BE MEN. Written in all caps because that is how the message has been transmitted to me via ConserativeInternet™ and by Conservative Men.

From my research it is my understanding that any rape allegation, to ConservativeInternet™, is a false allegation until they decide otherwise. Unless it happens in front of them. And even then it is hard to tell if the woman was asking for it or not. After all, the very good boys at Yale very recently chanted outside a women's dorm "No means yes, yes means anal." So how are we to know?
Worth noting that this is same Frat Kavanaugh was in, so if we are lucky, 'no means yes, yes means anal' will be codified into federal law before long. Sorry Justice Ginsburg.

There are real, provable, researched facts out there that tell us that 1 in 5 women are raped in their lifetime. There are facts that show that most rapes go unreported, and only a small fraction of those that are reported are actually tried, and only a fraction of those see any jail time. And 2% of reported rape allegations are false. See? Here is another chart.

So, if I told you that you had a 98% chance of, say, winning the lottery, you would buy a lotto ticket right? If you had a 98% chance of surviving a virulent cancer with a medication I give you, you would take it right? If you had a 98% chance of rain on a Sunday you would probably take an umbrella out yeah?

So why do men not believe a woman coming forward when there is a 98% chance that what she is saying is true?

Because it scares them. Because if there are that many women being raped that means that there are a lot of rapists doing the raping. And if a majority of those rapists are men (90%), then there is a high chance that a man knows a rapist. There is even a chance he could BE a rapist. I mean what even is rape? What qualifies as assault? Are we going to have to ASK every time we want to touch a girl? (YES).

I imagine this is what goes through a man's mind when he concludes that women are just lying to ruin men's lives. That the woman in hiding requiring 24 hour protection is just doing it for the attention. That the women coming forward against a famous man are just doing it for the fame, like all of Cosby's accusers, who I am sure everyone can name off the top of their heads because they are so famous now.

Men are afraid that their behavior, once the gold standard for human existence, will be scrutinized. That they will be called to question for things they have done. They call these accusations "false" not because these things never happened, but because they don't think the things they did constitute assault. It was locker room talk, horseplay, just boys being boys. Unfortunately for them a new standard is coming into play, one where women are treated as humans with agency and will face down their assailants even under the threat of death. Men are afraid women will laugh at them, and women are afraid men will kill them. But we are coming forward anyway, and it's scaring the men.

*Look at everything we ruined! AKA things we participated in and now men are hasing a MAD.
